Rodney B. Hughes, known as 'Roc Bottom Security,' is the security personnel for The Freedom Institute. A native of Georgia, he is the 3rd son of seven boys born to Roy and Frankie Hughes, and he is the husband to founder Valerie Hughes.

Rodney B. Hughes, known as 'Roc Bottom Security,' is the security personnel for The Freedom Institute. A native of Georgia, he is the 3rd son of seven boys born to Roy and Frankie Hughes, and he is the husband to founder Valerie Hughes.


An athletic, spiritual, smart, strong, confident, and honest person who takes pride in doing the right thing the first time, Rodney, throughout his journey, has had a successful career as a sergeant at Apalachee Correctional Institution. He is now segreant with DDPS at Florida State Hospital. 


Rodney holds certifications in the following areas: shotgun, defensive safe shooter, crisis & intervention, CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid.

Rodney works with great integrity and understanding, and his interpersonal skills help him get along well with others. Rodney enjoys giving back to his community by coaching the youth and sharing valuable insight on the game of basketball and life.


Rodney enjoys sports, traveling, and spending time with his wife and family.

Randall Ware is a Financial Risk Protection Specialist and heads the Social Security Take A Stand initiative in collaboration with community leaders, key partners, and financial educators dedicated to empowerment through financial literacy. The platform embodies his passion and belief that we can keep Social Security strong for current and future beneficiaries through education and personal initiative.


Randall Ware received his FINRA recognized designation as a Certified Financial Educator Instructor (CFEI) from the National Financial Educators Council on May 10th, 2013. 


His contributions to the community earned him the Visionary Award - Georgia PTA's highest award. On April 29th, 2016, he received the National Financial Educators Day Award from the National Financial Educators Council for his continued contributions to the financial literacy movement.

Keith Calaway is the Recreational Athletic Specialist for The Freedom Institute. He is a mentor and teaches relevant softball and baseball skills, tactics, and techniques to monitor the participants' performance and provide constructive feedback. Keith, who played softball for 22 years, holds classes with the organization informing the pa

Keith Calaway is the Recreational Athletic Specialist for The Freedom Institute. He is a mentor and teaches relevant softball and baseball skills, tactics, and techniques to monitor the participants' performance and provide constructive feedback. Keith, who played softball for 22 years, holds classes with the organization informing the participants on the importance of health, nutrition, and the proper rest to be competitive in softball and baseball games. 


His involvement in the program keeps the youth engaged and provides and gives them an outlet to stay out of trouble while encouraging them to reach their full potential as athletes, even aspirations of those who want to become pro. Keith works to build relationships with the youth to provide a program where they can confide in any issue and obtain the resources they may need.


Services provided through the organization include lunch and snacks, educational programs, program merchandise (t-shirts), and field trips. The participants are taught the fundamentals of softball and baseball in a safe environment. Interaction with peers helps build friendships, confidence, communication skills, develop personal strengths, channel creativity, promote exercise, create teamwork skills, gain independence, responsibility, and perseverance.


Keith believes the youth are our future. His vision for the program is to travel more to compete statewide with transportation for the youth to attend events outside the organization and attract more youth as competitive athletes with available resources having the best equipment and a supportive environment to produce well-rounded athletes.


Keith and his wife Gayle Calaway reside in Bainbridge, GA.

Learom Jones, the Transportation Coordinator for The Freedom Institute, was born in Attapulgus, GA. A city in Decatur County, where he attended school. He and his five siblings were raised by parents Annie and Willie Carter. Learom grew up poor in a small town, which made him want to have more to provide for his family to have a better li

Learom Jones, the Transportation Coordinator for The Freedom Institute, was born in Attapulgus, GA. A city in Decatur County, where he attended school. He and his five siblings were raised by parents Annie and Willie Carter. Learom grew up poor in a small town, which made him want to have more to provide for his family to have a better life. He later obtained his GED before enrolling in Bainbridge College to major in Criminal Justice.


Married to his wife of 35 years, Mrs. Lashia Carter, also from Attapulgus, they have four beautiful young adult children, three girls and one boy. 


Learom started his employment venture with Engelhard Minerals and Chemicals in Attapulgus and eventually became a truck driver. He has been in transportation for over 26 years while managing companies. Learom has a valid CDL with TX endorsement and a clean driving record, and he is licensed to carry. He is currently in the process of opening a business with his wife.  


Learom has been a member of Emanuel Primitive Baptist for over 20 years. He is very ambitious and dedicated to God, family, and work.
